Method
- Sprinkle the gelatin over cold water and let it sit for 3–5 minutes until fully bloomed and spongy.
- Pour hot hibiscus tea over the bloomed gelatin and whisk for 30–45 seconds until fully dissolved and clear.
- Add the cold water or cranberry juice, lemon juice, and optional salt. Stir well to combine.
- Choose your format: drink immediately after slight cooling, or pour into molds for cubes.
- If making cubes, refrigerate for 2–3 hours until firm, then cut or remove from molds.
- Consume 15–20 minutes before meals as a drink or eat 4–5 cubes for satiety support.
Notes
- Never use boiling water — temps above 85C destroy gelatin gelling proteins AND damage hibiscus anthocyanins.
- Always use pure unflavored gelatin — not flavored Jell-O mixes.
- Avoid fresh pineapple or kiwi as liquid — their enzymes prevent proper gel formation.
- Color tip: for deeper crimson use 2 tbsp hibiscus per cup of water. For lighter pink use 1 tbsp.
- Cubes gradually fade from crimson to lighter pink after day 4-5 — still safe and effective.
- Vegan option: substitute gelatin with agar agar powder (use 1.5x the amount).
