Classic Gelatin Trick Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon — unflavored gelatin powder Knox or Great Lakes
  • 1/2 cup — hot water 170°F — not boiling
  • 1/2 cup — cold liquid water, lemon water, green tea, or cranberry juice
  • 1 teaspoon — lemon juice optional
  • 1 pinch — himalayan salt optional

Method
 

  1. Step 1 — Name: Bloom
  2. Sprinkle gelatin over 2-3 tablespoons cold water. Let sit 2-3 minutes until spongy.
  3. Step 2 — Name: Dissolve
  4. Pour hot water (170°F) over bloomed gelatin. Whisk 30 seconds until completely clear.
  5. Step 3 — Name: Add cold liquid
  6. Stir in cold liquid to bring mixture to drinkable temperature.
  7. Step 4 — Name: Drink
  8. Consume 15-30 minutes before your main meal. Drink slowly.
  9. Step 5 — Name: Hydrate
  10. Follow with 8-12 oz of plain water during the meal.

Notes

Never use boiling water — temperatures above 85°C break down gelatin's gelling proteins.
Do NOT substitute collagen peptides — they will not gel in your stomach.
For ice cubes: use 4 tbsp gelatin + 2 cups hot water + 1 cup cold liquid. Pour into molds, refrigerate 2-3 hours. Eat 4-5 cubes before meals.
For the pink version: use hibiscus tea as your cold liquid.
